About This shoot

A non-competition shoot for our members just to enjoy using their centrefire rifles ‘off the benches’, and especially to check sighting and make any adjustments required for accurate shooting in competitions or when hunting.

Contact our Centrefire Benchrest Shoot Organiser for more information - Daniel Penney on Mob 0409 218 975. If Daniel is unavailable please contact Tony Witchard on 0427 050 173.

A venerable ex-military rifle getting an open-sight adjustment done, perhaps for a turn-up at our next Service Rifle Match.

For target shoots, it can be an advantage to know the clicks to wind into your scope when shooting score targets at different distances, rather than trying to work hold-overs. Windy days for our centrefire shoots are also useful in letting target shooters get a feeling for hold-offs, left and right when the flags are snapping!

A shooter gets in a little bipod work with his hunting .223, to make sure it will put shots where he wants them when out in the scrub.
Being able to set up a target at 100, 200, or 300 yards, or possibly at all three allows you to work out holdovers or scope clicks for hunting in one session.

Nine benches are available on the Emmaville centrefire range, so there is always plenty of time to do the testing you need with a shoot that starts at 9:30 and often doesn’t wrap up until 2:00PM.

Or if you buy factory ammunition only, it is great to test a new type before going out on that much anticipated hunt.

Working out what is the maximum projectile weight your rifle will stabilise, can be an advantage in competition shoots if the wind gets up. The club also has a chronograph for hire for those shooters who want to go to the next level in load development for their rifles.
