A 45 year member, Rod joined the SSAA in the 1970's as a junior member after gaining an interest in shooting in the Australian Army Cadets.

Rod started target shooting at the Hornsby range in Sydney and soon won a Silver then Gold centerfire award with a borrowed rifle from a Range Officer as a teenager.

In the 1990's Rod became interested in pistol shooting and is now a Master Grade shooter in the Combined Services discipline, his favorite after Practical Pistol and Service Rifle.

Rod hopes to serve the Branch well and encourage Junior members as he was encouraged by a host of Senior shooters in days gone by. He is heartened to see a growing female membership within the Branch.

Rod has not let his physical disabilities hamper his interest in shooting and would like to see all those with interest compete at an equal level in the shooting sports.
